About the artist
Ekaterina Leo

Ekaterina Leo is known for her evocative paintings that blend dreamlike figures from her Russian, wintery motherland with the melancholy of her new German homeland. Often coated with a primary fluorescent acrylic layer, and realized on wood, her works imbue a wealth of imagery, all connected by an emotional intensity.

These often epic compositions weave human-like beings, animals or rather hybrids of many individuals and environments together, reflecting a complex interplay of invention, chance and intuition. A sense of charmingly nebulous frenzy emerges from Leo’s combination of personal experiences and dreamlike qualities.

With a nod to this childlike vision, Leo’s narratives keep us submerged in her intricate, visual landscape.
